Birmingham, United Kingdom
Now in its 16th year, the 2010 EuroDoble Colloquium is being held in Birmingham, UK. Situated in the heart of England, this rejuvenated city is criss-crossed with canals and towpaths. Birmingham provides an excellent setting for our annual European meeting, which is full of options for the utility engineer in maintenance or asset management.
This is a forum for sharing best practices about managing the consequences of ageing assets in the European power stations and industrial sites including:
- Asset and Maintenance Management
- Protection Testing Practices, Concerns & Training
- High Voltage Equipment Training & Sessions
- Utility-Only Session where Utilities can discuss concerns without the presence of Manufacturers
- Supplier Exposition
At this meeting topics relating to all primary assets will be discussed including generators, motors, transformers, circuit breakers, cables, bushings and instrument transformers plus their impact on generation or transmission and distribution networks.
PROGRAMME THEMES:
This programme is preliminary and subject to change.
CONFERENCE SESSIONS
18-20 October
Day 1 Monday the 18th
Asset and Maintenance Management
Focusing on four themes, each theme is led with expert papers but focusing on audience contributions sharing their experiences and identifying best practices in the lifetime care of the infrastructure assets.
- Ageing and Failures of Primary Assets: Evidence of generic old-age ageing and failures as well as those induced at weak design points or by system events. Research studies into lifetime predictions.
- Managing the Risks of Failure: Methods and experience to assess the risk. Managing with impact modeling, safety and environmental impact measures. Use of risk management zones.
- Maintenance Practices for the Future: New maintenance tools and practices to cope with increasing safety and environmental legislation. Impact on the existing network of new but unpredictable sources of generation. Companies preparing for Smart Grids.
- Replacing Assets: Introducing new designs and materials with reduced safety and environmental impact.
Day 2 Tuesday the 19th
Diagnostics for High Voltage Equipment
This session concentrates on audience presentations sharing experiences gained from diagnostic investigations and implementing new condition based maintenance and asset based practices.
- Condition assessment tools and their validation by subsequent investigation
- Substation data networks for storage of control and protection information
- Data management for third party access, such as providers of condition assessment diagnostic systems
- Operating experience from installations allowing temperature measurements in overhead line and cable circuits and their use for dynamic ratings
Day 3 Wednesday the 20th
Utility-Only Session
Share your experiences relating to plant and HV apparatus performance and failures.
TUTORIAL SESSIONS
- Partial Discharge Diagnostics for Routine and Non-Invasive Surveys
- On-Line Partial Discharge Diagnostics Using Permanently Installed Sensors: Periodical or permanent use for monitoring the condition of machines, transformers, cables and GIS
- Interpreting Dissolved Transformer Oil Gases: Experiences of various Doble clients around the world and web-based data management
PROTECTION SEMINAR
