2006 Australasian Protection Testing User Group Meeting2006 Australasian Protection Testing User Group MeetingSupported by Doble Engineering Company
We are pleased to extend this invitation to your organisation to participate in the 2006 Australasian Protection Testing User Group (APTUG) Meeting, hosted by Energex, Brisbane, Queensland. The Energex gas and electricity networks span more than 25,000 square kilometres throughout south east Queensland, including the dynamic growth areas regions of Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast. In the past 10 years, the population has dramatically increased in these areas, leading to a 30% rise in overall energy demand. Energex has been actively involved with APTUG since 1994. In recent years up to 100 participants have attended, making these meetings the premier event for electricity system protection testing for the region. We recommend early registration, as places are limited. The APTUG Meeting provides the opportunity for participants to: • Increase their knowledge on protection relays and testing techniques. The success of the meeting depends upon a diverse range of presentations and topics. We are looking for presentations from both new and experienced presenters. The Program: (Optional) Monday, 4th December: Training Session on Doble ProTesT software and the ‘F’ series test instruments (10.00 am start) DAY ONE: Tuesday, 5th December DAY TWO: Wednesday, 6th December DAY THREE: Thursday, 7th December Optional Training Day: Friday, 8th December: (Optional) Site Visit: Queensland Rail Control Centre To register: A final agenda will be released in November 2006. The program needs your presentations to be successful. We would like to see at least one presentation from each organisation. Please include on the registration your suggested presentation and/or any you would like to see. Below are examples of topics that have been presented in the past. • Doble software packages Hosts are sought for future User Group Meetings. Venue and Accommodation The venue for the 2006 Australasian Protection Testing User Group Meeting will be Energex City Office, Charlotte St, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The recommended accommodation is the Royal on the Park which is located in Alice St., Brisbane, 500 metres from Energex City Office and 20 minutes from the airport. Energex has made a block reservation of rooms at the Royal On The Park at special rates for the period, arriving Monday, 4th December and departing Friday 8th December (or part thereof), which are only available for direct booking by participants until Friday, 27th October 2006 at the latest. For room reservations, please contact Marilyn Baird at the Royal on the Park: Ph +61 7 31121609, Fax +61 7 3229 9817. When making your reservation, please advise Marilyn that the accommodation was booked for Energex, and also quote the booking Block ID 40980. This will avoid any problems with double booking of rooms. Please ensure that you book by 27th October 2006 to take advantage of the accommodation at the rate per room night shown below.
Alternative accommodation is available close to the venue in Brisbane CBD. However it may be difficult to find due to the festive season. On Tuesday night there will be a ‘user pays’ function at the Breakfast Creek Hotel, where you can enjoy the steak of you choice. Other meals are available. The official APTUG dinner will be held on Wednesday night aboard the Kookaburra River Queen. If you have any special dietary requirements, please make these known upon registration for the dinner.
