Follow up to the 2010 International Conference of Doble Clients

We are pleased to report a very successful Client Conference, with delegates representing 332 companies and 30 countries.

Introductory remarks from Mark Rivers, VP of Doble Client Service; Dave Zabetakis, Doble’s new President; and Vic Richey, CEO of Doble’s parent company ESCO Technologies. The Keynote Address “SMART GRID – A Workforce Game Changer” is presented by Wanda Reder, VP of Services, S & C Electric.

55 technical papers were presented at the 2010 Doble Conference. These papers are now posted on the Doble Online Portal for Clients to access. If you are not signed up for the Doble Portal send an email to Help@doble.com for your username and password.

Technical Highlights from the 2010 Doble Conference have been added to the Doble Portal under both the one and ten year sections of conference minutes. See the top of the page for the pdf in both sections. Eligible clients will receive an email notification with a link to the Technical Highlights.

How a partial discharge develops physical changes that allow detection

• Indirect methods using heat, light, sound, vibration, chemical changes and radiated electromagnetic waves

Applications of PD techniques

• Measuring the electrical signals on line- using traveling waves and capacitance coupling in cables, machines and transformers and using electromagnetic probes to detect UHF radiation in transformers and GIS.
• Off-line techniques used in the field

Doble Client Committees

Delegates from utility, testing and industrial companies met to discuss topics of highest concern without the presence of manufacturers or insurers. Minutes of these meetings are being prepared and will be posted on the Doble Online Portal for eligible clients.

8 presenters shared brief “Lessons Learned” in a new session designed to
support and encourage new presenters to feel comfortable sharing their experiences at the Conference. This new session was a great success and we plan to offer it again in the future. See the Doble Online Portal for the 2010 SPS presentations.
