2006 EuroDoble Colloquium

“Implementation of Asset Management in Power Utilities”

Doble Engineering has been hosting a technical conference for European clients for the past twelve years. For the past four years, Doble has been opening this event to all sectors of the industry.

The 2006 EuroDoble Colloquium is being organised by TransiNor (A Doble Company) in Trondheim, Norway, with assistance from Doble PowerTest in the UK.

Program Overview: 15-19 October, 2006

• Sunday, 15 Oct. – Tutorials: “Introduction to partial discharge measurements on installed equipment” and “Using forensic examinations to aid asset life management.” (open to all)

Delegates to this event will learn about the latest developments and applications of utility industry asset risk management. This style of management is a process that blends methodologies used by regulators, insurers, and all sectors of the transmission, distribution and power stations who are concerned with optimising capital and operating expenditure on their high-voltage equipment.

This year's Colloquium is an opportunity to share experiences and evaluate the outcomes of implementing asset management practices. While the open market with its supply contracts has led to a greater focus on availability and performance of the installed assets, much of the utility industry's installed capacity is old, leading to questions about reliability. To maximise the business value of these assets, the company must ensure availability, safety, and environmental care; hence, the need for processes using asset risk management.

Presentations will be made by key specialists and based on data from site engineers, asset managers, regulators and insurers. Individual experiences will be discussed, and audience participation will be encouraged.

Costs

• Doble utility clients (who have a Doble Services Agreement) may attend all days, free of charge.
  
• Doble manufacturer clients may attend Sunday through Tuesday free of charge (the later days are open to utilities only).
  
• Non-clients may sign up now for a discounted price--and attend the Colloquium for 695 Euros per person (after 29 September, the price is 750 Euros)
  
• Presenters may attend free of charge.

The host hotel for the Colloquium is the Hilton London Kensington, where Doble has secured a reasonable rate. The hotel has over 600 bedrooms and is situated along the elegant tree-lined avenue of Holland Park. It is close to all London's major attractions including Kensington High Street, Knightsbridge and the Olympia and Earl's Court conference and exhibition centres.
