I. Survey Instruments and Testing
PDS100 - Partial Discharge Surveyor
The PDS100 provides complete substation PD survey capabilities. By simply walking around HV apparatus, sources of PD and external interference can be detected and identified. Routine RFI surveying will assist in locating PD activity while the apparatus is still in service.

The DFA100, Dielectric Fault Analyzer, is a handheld, battery-powered instrument for monitoring non-intrusive, in-service acoustic signals produced by partial discharge and loose components.

DFA100 for Gas Insulated Substations
The DFA100 for GIS is a hand-held instrument for acoustic diagnosis of Gas Insulated Substations. It is a battery-powered instrument for detection and location of defects in the insulation of GIS systems. The DFA100 includes an acoustic emission (AE) sensor to detect acoustic signals from a range of defects such as bouncing particles, protrusions and mechanical loose parts. DFA100 is a further development of its predecessor AIA, a widely known and accepted tool for diagnosis of GIS.

The enhanced PD-Smart is Doble`s next generation of Partial Discharge Measurement Systems. LDS-6 - Partial Discharge Analyzer
Doble’s LDS-6 is a sophisticated PD/RIV digital measurement system that performs PD detection in accordance with internationally recognized standards such as IEC 60270, VDE 0434, ICEA T-24-380 as well as other IEEE standards.
The LDS-6 includes the Doble Lemke analysis and diagnostic software that provides a complete PD/RIV assessment tool.

FailSafe LF & Capacitive Couplers

Doble offers a variety of capacitive couplers that allow for decoupling of PD signals from various electrical sources. Featured is the FailSafe LF Coupler. This coupler allows for continuous online monitoring of rotating machines at lower frequencies than traditional HF couplers. Lower frequencies allow for the whole stator to be monitored, not just the first few coils. In addition, the unit does not compromise the reliability of the system by incorporating a fused element that safely removes the coupler in the event of a failure.

TransformerGuard PD Monitoring System
TransformerGuard is a solution for monitoring PD activity in transformers. It is equipped with a PD-Guard/UHF that allows for the connection of various UHF sensors that can be either mounted through tank hatches or inserted through an oil drain valve. UHF technology allows for detection of PD activity deep within transformer windings without attenuation. Doble’s experts will assist you in analysis.

TerminationGuard PD Monitoring System
TerminationGuard is a condition based monitoring system for assessing the condition by cable terminations in the field. Once installed in the field, the most likely place for a cable to fail is either at splices or terminations. TerminationGuard targets the terminations and can reliably assess their condition by using the latest in UHF PD based technology. By monitoring the in-service partial discharge, the insulation performance can be monitored over time and corrective action can be taken before a failure occurs.

At the heart of an online, rugged continuous PD monitoring system is the PD-Guard. The PD-Guard is used in Doble’s various online monitoring systems for both transformers and rotating machines. With advanced signal processing, interference suppression and advanced PD analysis software, reliable decisions can be made in real-time. The system is scalable allowing for multiple PD-Guards to monitor several (and different) apparatus through a central evaluation server.

IV. Service Programs
DobleGuard Services:
It’s hard to maintain cutting edge PD experts on staff. If you have purchased or leased a Doble PD system, DobleGuard Services are available for you. DobleGuard Services gives you access to a PD expert whenever you need assistance by phone and provides your with written reports.
A Doble Engineer will provide you with quarterly reports based on your online PD Monitoring system test data. This report will provide you with:
- Current Dielectric Insulation Condition
- Recommendation for future testing of continued monitoring
- Best diagnosis of failing condition to include characterization of fault
- Fine tuning of alarm and test system functionality
You also get 1 day of training every year on PD analysis and how to properly user your PD monitoring system.
How to get DobleGuard Services:
For Leased Systems
DobleGuard Services are automatically included in your leased contract price. You also have the security of knowing your system is covered for replacement or upgrades.
For Purchased Systems
DobleGuard can be included in your Doble services contract. A single contract covers 4 DobleGuard Systems per year and can be a mix of Doble’s PD-Guard based monitoring systems.
