Condition Assessment

How can you be confident that your electric delivery system can withstand the demands you place on it? For this level of confidence, you need in-depth knowledge of the condition of your equipment, as well as a clear understanding of its operating capability. As a transformer ages, its probability of failure increases. Studies confirm that the average service life at failure for large power transformers is less than 15 years - but with a proper condition assessment and maintenance program, power transformers can continue to perform well beyond 30 or even 40 years!

Doble Engineering has developed a proprietary method for estimating the remaining service life of a transformer. This method builds upon a comprehensive condition assessment program, and is designed to systematically identify changes in transformer condition. Doble's Condition Assessment solution can reduce the risk of transformer failure and extend the life of your valuable capital assets.

A partnership with Doble will provide you with an entire team of experienced engineers to assist you, backed by a powerful array of diagnostic tools and solutions. Doble's talented engineers analyze test data and provide high level consulting and strategic development services, including asset management, asset utilization, and comprehensive risk management strategies and solutions. Doble's Condition Assessment program is not a part of the Doble Services Agreement

Doble's Condition Assessment solutions are tailored to your specific requirements, taking into account the design, maintenance history and operating condition of your transformer.

A typical Condition Assessment evaluation includes the following:

• Review of historical test results and operating conditions
• Comparison of recent test results versus the historical results for the unit and similar designs in the Doble database
• Review of design and specifications
• Site inspection
• Electrical and mechanical integrity tests of the transformer
• Electrical insulation quality tests for the paper and oil insulation systems

We'll get familiar with your system and individual equipment during the preliminary evaluation phase. We'll work with you to determine which transformers are the most critical and develop a strategy to evaluate these units in detail. We'll develop a proposal to meet your overall goals for condition assessment and maximum utilization of your equipment.
