Variable Frequency Power Factor (VFPF) measurement is a diagnostic off-line test technique for general insulation assessment. The test technique includes measurements of power factor (or dissipation factor) and capacitance at different frequencies. The measurement principle and test setup are the same as for the traditional 50/60 Hz Power Factor and Capacitance testing, but the measurements are performed at a wider frequency range.
