Underground power cables are very reliable in general but when failures do occur asset owners understandably want to know why. Was the cause poor design, poor manufacture or poor installation? Or did something happen during the operational phase of the cable’s life? This webinar will look at forensic best practices from first arriving onsite to the final report. We’ll consider the techniques and tools that can be used during the investigation that help get to the root cause; we’ll also consider some of the pitfalls too. The webinar will use an investigation into multiple MV cable joint case failures at a petrochemical facility to demonstrate the learnings and show that the obvious answer is not necessarily the right answer.
