This Transformer Protection course is intended for both engineers and technicians involved with application of transformer protection relays that are used to protect an extremely valuable asset.
Transformer protection and differential protection in particular is complicated due to different voltage levels and angular shifts of voltage and currents when dealing with delta-wye transformers. The differential protection applied at transformers must also be able to correctly differentiate between transformer inrush and an actual internal fault.
This Application and Testing Electro-Mechanical and Microprocessor Relays course covers the testing of simple overcurrent relays such as time overcurrent, under/overvoltage and over/under frequency electro-mechanical relays. The course will start with basic level instruction on the construction and principles of electro-mechanical /microprocessor relays, including different components of the relay that need calibration and adjustments as part of testing.
