Join us for one of Doble’s interactive lab seminars held in various locations throughout the year.
The interactive seminar combines theoretical background with practical experience to provide engineers, chemists and others who review data with the vital knowledge and hands-on examples – including case studies – needed to interpret laboratory results to detect and identify problems with electric apparatus.
As the provider of Knowledge Services for the power industry, Doble is pleased to offer seminars on electric apparatus assessment using laboratory diagnostics. This one day interactive seminar, held at various locations, combines theoretical background with practical experience. Hands-on examples, such as case studies, are used to illustrate common problems found in the field. A one and a half day seminar is available, which provides more in-depth knowledge and case studies on these topics. Two and three day seminars are also available and cover complimentary topics.

One Day Seminar: $445 USD per person
The fee covers the seminar materials, break refreshments, lunch on the premises (Day 1) and a certificate of seminar completion. We prefer enrollment in advance.

If you have registered for a lab seminar and cannot attend, please notify Doble at least seven days in advance of the course to receive a refund. About the Presenters
Doble seminars are presented by one or more of the following experienced staff members:
Paul Griffin, Vice President of Consulting and Testing Services
Mr. Paul Griffin received his Master of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island. He has been with Doble since 1979, where he held the position of Laboratory Manager before becoming Vice President. Since joining Doble, Mr. Griffin has published over 50 technical papers pertaining to testing of electrical insulating materials and laboratory diagnostics. He is a Fellow of ASTM and a member of Committee D-27 on Electrical Insulating Liquids and Gases. He was formerly ASTM Subcommittee Chairman on Physical Tests and ASTM Section Chairman on Gases in Oil. He also served as Technical Advisor to the U.S. National Committee for participation in the International Electrotechnical Commission Technical Committee 10, Fluids for Electrotechnical Applications. Mr. Griffin is a member of IEEE, the IEEE Insulating Fluid Subcommittee of the Transformer Committee and the American Chemical Society. He is the U.S. Representative on CIGRE Working Group 15.01 Fluid Impregnated Insulating Systems and serves on several CIGRE Task Forces. Mr. Griffin has received the ASTM Committee D-27 Charlie Johnson Award and the ASTM Award of Merit.
Lance Lewand; Director, Insulating Materials Laboratory
Mr. Lance Lewand received his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He has been with Doble since 1992, where he is Project Manager of Materials Laboratory research and Product Manager of Doble’s moisture-in-oil sensor, the DOMINO. He also has been a member of ASTM D-27 since 1989. At Doble, Mr. Lewand has published numerous technical papers pertaining to the sampling and testing of electrical insulating materials and laboratory diagnostics. Mr. Lewand was formerly Manager of the Transformer Fluid Test Laboratory and Manager of PCB and Oil Field Services at MET Electrical Testing Company in Baltimore, MD for seven years. His years of field service experience in this capacity provide a unique perspective by combining laboratory analysis with field service work.
Eileen Finnan, Field Services Manager
Ms. Eileen Finnan received her Bachelor of Science degree in physics and chemistry from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She joined Doble as a chemist in 1988 and held the position of Laboratory Manager from 1998-2003. She is a member of ASTM D27 on Electrical Insulating Liquids and Gases and has held a number of positions on its subcommittees. Ms. Finnan currently works with the Testing and Consulting group at Doble Engineering Company, focusing on condition assessment of electrical apparatus and asset health review. She also is responsible for managing the quality program at Doble Laboratories.
David Koehler; Manager, Laboratory Services
Mr. David Koehler received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Indiana University and his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has over 15 years of experience in testing insulating fluids and the management of analytical laboratories. Mr. Koehler has given numerous technical presentations at various power industry conferences. He has the following industry affiliations: IEEE-Central Indiana Section Chair, IEEE Region 4 East Area Chair, IEEE Region 4 Strategic Planning Committee, ASTM D-27 Technical Committee on Electrical Insulating Liquids and Gases. In 2011, Mr. Koehler was an Executive Committee Member of the Indiana American Chemical Society and he remains active within ACS.
