Doble’s David Koehler: The New IEEE VP-Elect of Member & Geographic Activities
We’re excited to share that our own David Koehler, Business Development Manager at Doble, has recently been selected as IEEE’s Vice President-Elect of Member and Geographic Activities. He is the first in Doble’s history to hold this level of office within the world-renowned professional association.
David’s role will be focused on inspiring and actively supporting IEEE members across the world with engagement and volunteer opportunities. He will ensure the organization is providing the right products and services to meet members’ needs and improve outreach to prospective members working in both industry and academia. Our team at Doble finds great joy in getting involved in our community, and David’s new position within IEEE will give him a terrific opportunity to give back and drive change.
Over 10 years of service with IEEE
David first became an active volunteer in 2010 as a local section treasurer. As a laboratory manager, he was intrigued by IEEE’s interpretation guidelines that provide guidance on how to interpret test results and drawn to the networking opportunities with other members.
After serving as IEEE Region 4 treasurer, David decided to run in the annual IEEE elections, a highly competitive process. Eventually, he rose the ranks from IEEE Region 4 Director, while also serving on the IEEE Board of Directors, to now VP-Elect of Member and Geographic Activities and member of IEEE’s honor society HKN. According to David, the experience he gained after sitting on the IEEE Board of Directors for two years was arguably even more valuable than his MBA.
Elevating Doble’s Presence and ‘Keeping an Ear to the Ground’
Doble’s strengthened ties to the institute’s activities means we can stay even more abreast on the latest industry happenings, future plans for IEEE’s Power and Energy Society, and better serve our customers. We are active participants in the society’s technical meetings and sponsor the IEEE Foundation’s Power & Energy Society Scholarship Plus Program. We look forward to further opportunities to connect, collaborate, and network with industry professionals globally.
IEEE’s numerous annual events open new avenues for Doble to interact with clients. Regularly meeting and engaging with customers truly allows us to stay more attuned to current and emerging needs while also maintaining and strengthening key relationships. Our involvement with IEEE furthers our mission to provide safe, reliable and secure power, and we’re confident the products, services, research and expertise we’ve developed over the years will continue to be a valuable asset to the society.
Supporting Lifelong Learning

“I’m incredibly thankful to Doble and my superiors for their ongoing support and giving me the flexibility to get involved with IEEE and attend association meetings throughout the world. The experience has been instrumental to my own personal growth and gives me a tremendous opportunity to give back to my community and drive value for Doble,” said Koehler.
