Over 1,200 participants are expected to attend the 78th Doble Client Conference, to be held March 27 – April 1 at the Westin Copley Place Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. The six-day Users’ Group Meeting will include a technical program of 60+ presentations, a separate Training Track, utility-only Client Committee Meetings and an Industry Expo. This event is world-renowned as the premiere knowledge sharing experience for electric power engineers.
The Opening Session on Monday, March 28th will include addresses by David B. Zabetakis, President of Doble and Victor L. Richey, Chairman, CEO and President of ESCO Technologies.
Two Keynote Addresses will follow from Christopher E. Root, Senior Vice President Network Strategy, National Grid and Rick Bush, Editorial Director, Transmission & Distribution World.
National Grid’s Christopher Root will deliver his keynote address titled “The Future of the Utility Industry”. The Transmission and Distribution system of today is being driven by multiple factors including customer expectations and increasing regulations. Aging infrastructure and renewable energy are just a couple of the challenges facing the system. Expectations are high for eventual Smart Grid deployment and distributed energy. Mr. Root will take conference participants on a journey examining the drivers, challenges and expectations of the Utility Industry from 2010 through 2025.
An additional Keynote Address will be presented by Rick Bush with Transmission & Distribution World magazine, with “A Glimpse into our Energy Future”. Mr. Bush’s current initiative is to tie together the common strategic threads amongst power utilities worldwide. The universal topics for this decade include carbon reduction, green energy and Smart Grid; Mr. Bush will share long range strategic plans from utilities in China, India, Spain and North America with the Doble audience. He will also share global vendor strategies and take a look at why global players are reversing the outsourcing trend and building manufacturing plants in North America.

At the Conference opening on Monday, Mr. Zabetakis will announce the development of a groundbreaking new Doble solution. Doble is leveraging its vast database of knowledge to create a truly integrated Smart Grid solution for instant access to asset condition and health. Other Doble announcements at this year’s Conference will include hardware, software and services, with solutions for partial discharge detection, protection testing, and online monitoring of surge arresters.
