DNV GL’s Cascade and Doble’s DTA7 software integrate for seamless, centralized data, testing and asset management
WATERTOWN, Mass. – December 5, 2017
Doble Engineering Company, a subsidiary of ESCO Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ESE), has entered a strategic alliance with DNV GL, a global quality assurance and risk management company, to deliver streamlined and centralized testing data for customers in substation maintenance, testing and asset management.
As part of this strategic alliance, Doble and DNV GL are optimizing the compatibility between DNV GL’s Cascade work order management system and Doble’s new DTA7 and PowerBase7. With many utility customers using DNV GL and Doble products, interfacing modules and data workflow enhancements will help them streamline their high voltage (HV) apparatus and relay testing.
“Data and workflow siloes prevent customers from seeing the complete asset management picture,” said Matthew Kennedy, solutions director for enterprise and data products at Doble. “This alliance is about removing barriers and giving our customers a solution that simplifies testing, data storage and asset management business processes.”
“Customers can now confidently manage their asset condition, maintenance and performance with Cascade, without losing any of the asset testing, management and remote data storage features provided by Doble,” said Carsten Borchers, head of electric grid products and technology at DNV GL Software. “It’s an integrated business process that allows asset health and maintenance teams to make the best use of DTA and Cascade, getting a holistic picture of the state of their assets.”
For HV apparatus testing, Cascade can automatically launch DTA7. This allows asset managers, maintenance engineers and testers to create job orders, execute on a request and seamlessly record the results in a guided process without having to leave the system. For relay testers, Cascade can interface with ENOSERV PowerBase’s relay settings database for the automated creation and closing of maintenance orders for relay tests. These optimizations help make testing simple and more efficient.
