Doble Test Assistant (DTA) features the First Response Analytics Knowledgebase™ (FRANK™) an artificial intelligence system that “thinks,” helping you instantly analyze your test results along with clear recommendations and explanations. It provides automated control and testing for both the Doble M4100 and M7100. This allows companies to maintain a mixed fleet of Doble power factor test sets on a single platform.
DTA software seamlessly integrates with Doble Database. The DTAWeb client interface software allows users to upload and download data to private remote data storage while leveraging over 60 million world-wide test results for analytic comparison. Doble Database API provides a service layer for retrieving test data and Doble specific test results, such as FRANK™ scores, from the Doble Database for integration with customer 3rd-party enterprise business intelligence tools.

NEW! DTA 8
DTA 8 is the new Doble Test Assistant version that adds support for the first group of Vanguard instruments – the Vanguard Turns Ratio products. DTA 8 adds support for the Vanguard ATRT-01, ATRT-03, TRF-250, and Tri-Phase. These instruments will now be fully integrated into the Doble Test Assistant software, supported by the DTA nameplate and Doble Database capabilities. DTA 8 also brings the look and feel of our new UI, already released in SFRA 6. In addition, a new M7100 and M4100 feature – Excitation Current Components – is added in DTA 8.

Background
Definition: the minimum steady-state primary winding current necessary to maintain the volts-per-turns ratio of the transformer under no-load conditions. Open-circuit measurement of current and losses, typically, on the high-voltage side of the transformer using a low-voltage (up to 10-kV) single-phase power-frequency (50/60 Hz ) excitation.
Objective: The measurement detects shorted turns, open circuits, problems with tap changers, shorted core laminations and joint dislocations.
Empirical data reported includes:
- Imeas (mA)
- Loss (W)
- L or C (depending on angle)
Components
Method for components extraction was introduced in 2017 and allow assessment of electromagnetic circuit disentangling IL from IC.
DTA 8 features automatic extraction of exciting current components:
- Data analysis for IL and IR follows the rules for phase pattern recognition. However, detecting problems might require an expert eye.
- Diagnostic significance of IC is still under investigation. So, we strongly encourage the use of the method and sharing the data with your CSE.
- Be proactive and start scheduling training to cover DTA 8 and its new features with your CSE.
In DTAWeb, Doble’s very popular Test Data Management System (TDMS) solution for managing test results from Doble’s test instruments, we have now added support for managing supported vanguard instruments. DTAWeb is available to all users of supported Doble test instruments.
