DP-007 | 3 day Relay Application and Hands on Testing – In Person (Advanced Level)
This class will be hosted at 2200 Gateway Center BLVD Suite 207 Morrisville, NC 27560 | Feb 4-6
This training delves into advanced testing involving communication assisted protection, analysis of even reports, COMTRADE and ss1 files, line current differential relays, bus differential protection testing as well as out-of-step testing concept. Each testing section will be preceded by the theory on related relaying.
This course is intended for senior level technicians who are involved with testing of electro-mechanical/microprocessor relays. As well as technicians who wish to enhance their knowledge of reading event reports, complex relaying, advanced testing techniques, end-to-end testing, out-of-step relaying, bus differential and line current differential.
Day 1: Communication Assisted Protection Basic concept of communication assisted protection Description of different communication channels (Power line carrier, fiber, etc.)
Day 2 Testing: Run the tests using Doble State Simulation and SS1 files and analyze the results using Doble software and COMTRADE files from the relays Line Current Differential Basics of line current differential. Includes different methods used to perform line current differential relaying testing; rest various elements of line current differential relaying Bus differential relaying; basics of Bus differential relaying; and high impedance and low impedance bus differential.
Day 3 Testing: Includes test high impedance bus differential relaying; testing low impedance bus differential relaying (SEL 487B) Out-of-Step Protection; what are power swings; stable and unstable swings; various methods of detecting unstable swings; blocking and tripping functions in relays related to out-of-step protection
