Industry Experts on the Testing and Maintenance of Electric Grid Assets Bring World’s Premier Training Experience to Dubai to Help Electric Power Organizations Improve and Secure Long-Term Transformer Reliability
Watertown, MA, USA and Dubai, UAE. – December 16, 2014
To help electric power professionals better manage and respond to growing power demands across the Middle East, Doble Engineering Company will bring its Life of a Transformer Seminar to Dubai, UAE, for the first time from 18-22 January 2015. The conference serves as the world’s leading training seminar on transformers, providing attendees practical information from industry experts and resulting in immediate, measurable impacts on transformer performance and grid reliability.
The Middle East region is currently experiencing significantly increased demand for electric power. This rising demand is in large part a result of increased urbanization, and substantial population and economic development across the Middle East. This growth puts significant pressure on existing infrastructure in the region and greatly magnifies the importance of best-in-class transformer reliability practices.
At the Dubai seminar, industry leaders responsible for the manufacturing, engineering, production, maintenance, and management of power transformers will provide a big-picture view of effective transformer management, applicable to all levels within these electric power organizations. Experts will also be on hand throughout the event and accessible to attendees during the seminar expo.
Don Schubert, vice president of Marsh Insurance and Risk Management, will deliver this year’s keynote address, focusing on the insurance and financial implications of providing electrical power. Mr. Schubert will cover the market cycle, loss cost factors, the causes and solutions for transformer risk, and the consequences of providing unreliable power. Additional speakers will include representatives from Saudi Power Transformers Company, Siemens Energy, ABB, Alstom, Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH, Royal Smit Transformers, Efacec, Tamini and JST, among many others.
“Helping Doble customers in the Middle East better meet the needs of their customers through transformer lifecycle education, at all levels, is a top priority for us, especially as we watch demand in the region skyrocket,” said David Zabetakis, president of Doble. “Providing insight and sharing industry experience at our training seminars is the best way to help them do their jobs well and efficiently, while also allowing them the opportunity to continue developing their careers.”
In 13 years of hosting the event, Doble’s Life of a Transformer Seminars have trained more than 7,000 electric power professionals from over 50 countries across six continents. During 2015 another 600 participants are expected to attend the three 2015 Life of a Transformer seminars, which include the Dubai seminar, the 13th annual North American event in San Antonio, Texas from February 9-13, and the 3rd annual European Life of a Transformer Seminar in Lyon, France from June 1-5.
This year’s Dubai Life of a Transformer Seminar comes on the heels of two other recent developments in the Middle East. In June, Doble announced an expanded relationship with National Grid Saudi Arabia, followed by a new office opening in Dubai in 2014.
