F8300
Seven-module test set
Make an F8300 your do-it-all protection testing instrument for conventional, digital, and hybrid schemes.
Features & Benefits
Overview
F8-series Power System Simulators offer modularity that lets you configure your ideal protection test set for your specific requirements. State-of-the-art componentry provides modern performance in versatile instruments that are designed to the handle the demands of any conventional or digital test scenario.
Have the capabilities and functionality that make sense for the protection applications you test. Every configuration includes a 90 W battery simulator in addition to a powerful Command Module which hosts control, communication, and synchronization features. The chassis and module configurations you make on the F8 platform will work seamlessly with your existing Protection Suite™ and Doble RTS™ test procedures and support IEC 61850-compliant digital testing.
The modules feature color programmable LED rings that indicate correct lead placements and contact status as well as the presence of any source issues. They are easy to remove and replace at your discretion plus you can swap-in other F8 modules of different types for the flexibility of adapting your F8 instruments for different purposes at will.
Whether you need them for field or laboratory use, F8 instruments are ready for duty with either fitted corner-and-edge protective bumpers and transport accessories or optional hardware for permanent mounting in 19” racks.
Command Module
Instrument control, communication, and synchronization.
The Command Module is embedded with each F8-series chassis and controls all instrument operations from Protection Suite and RTS software. Communication and synchronization functions are hosted, and instrument status is displayed. F8860 (GOOSE), F8870 (Sampled Values), and F8850 (GOOSE/SV Combo) firmware options are available to enable IEC 61850-compliant digital testing.
Low-Density Logic I/O Module
Four I/O pairs with color programmable LED rings.
The Low-Density Logic I/O Module provides four pairs of programmable input/output ports featuring LED rings that indicate port assignments. The LEDs turn off during testing and turn back on if an input is triggered. This module also provides functions for testing transducers and Class 2 meters.
Use Protection Suite and RTS software to set monitoring parameters in the Low-Density Logic I/O Module, to assign colors to the LEDs, and to control transducer/meter tests.
HVA Voltage Module
Two-channel phase voltage with color programmable LED rings.
The HVA Voltage Module provides two 150 V sources at 150 VA or one 300 V source at 300 VA with both channels connected in parallel. Convertible Mode produces high-VA/low-range current sources for high compliance voltage in multiple ranges for testing high-burden relay elements.
Use Protection Suite and RTS software to set source configurations in the HVA Voltage Module and to assign colors to the LEDs for indicating correct test lead placements. For safety and to prevent hardware damage, the HVA Voltage Module automatically stops operating and the LEDs turn red when sensing short circuit conditions.
HVA Current Module
Two-channel phase current with color programmable LED rings.
The HVA Current Module provides two 25 A sources at 150 VA each. When both sources are connected in parallel, 50 A at 300 VA continuous power is produced. Transient mode enhances the ratings of the HVA Current Module which extends the range up to 90 A at 300 VA for 30 seconds. DC output is 50 A.
Use Protection Suite and RTS software to set source configurations in the HVA Current Module and to assign colors to the LEDs for indicating correct test lead placements. For safety and to prevent hardware damage, the HVA Voltage Module automatically stops operating and the LEDs turn red when sensing open circuit conditions.
Battery Simulator
Each F8000-series chassis includes a battery simulator with a power range of 6 to 300 volts at 90 watts.

Configurations of F8300 instruments are yours to decide. Making your ideal test set on the F8 platform begins with your choice of thoughtfully designed chassis. Each includes a Command Module and a 90 W battery simulator and reserves the slot on the top row for logic I/O or other non-source (voltage or current) modules. The F8-series modules you select are easy to remove and replace at your discretion and blanks are available for safe operation of your test set if using it with any empty module slots.
Beyond modularity, F8 chassis offer versatility. With sizes and specs equally suited to laboratory and field environments, the choice is yours whether to order them with special brackets and hardware for installing in 19” racks or with corner-and-edge protective bumpers and accessories for carrying and transporting them between jobsites. For convenience with either use case, power on/off is found at both the rear (if portable) and front (if rack mounted) of your F8 instruments.
You can be prepared for new or different test cases by keeping a supply of modules in your F8 fleet and adding new ones becoming available as the F8 platform continues to grow. With F8, you have adaptability and flexibility that protects your investment in protection testing equipment for the long term.

Synchronizes Doble F8-series power system simulators to satellite time signals for end-to-end testing.
Use the F8895 Satellite Receiver Antenna for GPS time synchronized tests that verify the integrity of communications between relays at different ends of a protected element. The F8895 connects via TNC cable to the GPS port on the Command Module of your F8-series Power System Simulator to enable common time signal sharing with other F8895-connected F8200/F8300 users in your end-to-end test scheme.
